OH BOY...It's a GIRL?!

Welp, we were so sure we were having a boy, but were very pleasantly surprised Friday afternoon when the ultrasound showed us our little girl! I'm pretty sure "Jack Ryan" is off the table now, so we're working on finding the perfect little girl's name. She has very long legs, a tiny little button nose, her mommy's chin, and her daddy's high cheek bones. She's going to be gorgeous!

Secretly I've wanted a girl this whole time. I have to have my "daddy's girl" and now I will! Jen was also very concerned that she would never have her little girl (little boys run pretty rampant in my family), so now she can rest assured she will get her baby girl too!

Needless to say, I'm scared out of my mind now. Boys are easy (from my vast experience of not having a single child whatsoever) but girls are expensive! They wear like 3 outfits a day...and makeup, hair, nails...WEDDINGS!! Not to mention those faces they make that'll have you doing whatever they want! But I expect lots of love, excitement, and happiness come along with all that too, and I know everything is going to be awesome! I couldn't have picked a better person to raise a little girl with! Enjoy the pictures!

Here is our little princess! Check out that nose!

You can kinda see her foot and her little toes here...

Another picture of her head...looks like she was sucking her thumb!

She kept turning away every time the tech tried to get measurements and pictures, here is her back turned to us and you can see he little ear

This was her laughing at her mommy because she tricked us into thinking she was a little boy

Here she is waving

And here she is being a she

iRover

As many of you may know (especially if you read this blog, which, as it turns out, you're doing right now, so chances are good that you do) I am the "Director of Technology" for TJD Financial Services. As part of my job I am responsible for wiring network cables for each new computer. This usually involves busting through ceiling tiles and insulation to get inside of the ceiling to where the cables are run. I then have to throw a bundle of cable as far as I can with a 1 or 2 ft overhead clearance (needless to say this is not very far). Then I have to take down my ladder, move it forward 3 feet, climb back into the ceiling... (20 ladder moves later the end of the cable is finally where it needs to be).

To save time (and to have a little fun) I have come up with a solution. I am several prototypes into my design - a few more and I'll have the perfect cable running companion!

The original product started off as a remote controlled Hummer (H2 - not that it matters). It was (to my suprise) quickly converted into the following...

But as you can see from the following picture, ground clearance was a bit of a problem...

So iRover 1 was completely overhauled...

I had to take away the headlight, but all-in-all it is a better design...

Here is iRover 2 in action...

Driving this thing through the ceiling was not easy (which is why the next model may include a camera, who knows?!) but I was able to reach out and grab it (along with the cable) and it saved me lots of time (minus the time it took me to make the thing!)

Baby News!

Well, Friday afternoon we had an appointment scheduled for our 18 week ultrasound (this is when you find out the sex of the baby!) And the results were.....................we're only 16 1/2 - 17 weeks along... The tech tried to find out anyway, but Jack would not cooperate. We were kind of bummed that we couldn't find out (for sure, that is, because Jen and I already know...the doctors just need to get on the same page), but it is cool that we got to see our baby and that just means we get to see him 1 more time than we would have otherwise. He is a very active baby. The poor tech kept getting just the right shot to make all of his measurements when Jack would squirm around and totally contort himself so the process would have to start over (he thought she was playing with him).

On another note (maybe even more exciting news) this weekend I finally felt the baby kick for the first (and second and third...) time!!! It was such an awesome feeling, and is really indescribable unless you've ever experienced it for yourself!

Here is a picture of his mommy, who's really showing at this point!!
